Ways to use your Cloud storage more efficiently and freely

According to our research, we have found that quite a huge number of users are no longer depending the sync feature to manage their files stored onto Cloud; therefore, we have added a “Cross-Space” feature. Files or folders that no longer need to be synced can be moved to “My Collection” as this will increase the syncing efficiency for ones that do.

Many users have made the request of having a file recovery system in case of accidental deletion and the case of uploading old version of the files and overrode the new ones. Two more new features : “Version control system” for MySyncFolder and “Recycle bin” on ASUS WebStorage web interface.

We would like to thank our users for all the feedbacks they have provided, and want to ensure everyone that we do take these feedbacks very seriously. In the future, we will continue to improve on them and create innovative services with the help and support of our users. Now, we would like to divert your attention to the below as we introduce the newly added features and how these features will help improve your Cloud life.

Exciting new way to use your Cloud storage – Cross-Space file movement

With ASUS WebStorage web interface, you can move files saved in “MySyncFolder” to the new “My Collection” space and vice versa. Files stored on mobile devices can be moved freely using the same feature allowing for a more clever use of Cloud.

For example, all our personal pictures or old pictures can be moved to “My Collection” upon syncing. Unfinished reports can be saved in MySyncFolder so it can automatically sync to all your devices giving you the freedom to continue working on the go and can be moved to “My Collection” once finished.

Most importantly, files or folders that are moved to “My Collection” will be deleted from MySyncFolder on each individual device automatically upon the next sync to free up limited storage space. In other words, once you have moved roughly 2GB of files to “My Collection”, your device will recover 2GB of unused space upon the next sync.

We have re-designed the “Move to…” interface from the original “3 columns” style to “tree” style drop down to increase usability and experience for users.

New Recycle bin – Recovers accidental deletions

What to do when you accidentally delete a file?
Relax! With the new “Recycle Bin”, all your files can be safely recovered after accidental deletion. No matter if it is from cell phone or computer, files can be safely recovered from ASUS WebStorage web interface.

Upon logging into web interface, select “Recycle bin” on the left hand side to bring up the list of files and folders that have been deleted. When you have found the file or folder that you are looking for, simply check the box next to it and select “Move” to restore the selected file or folder back to the desired location. (Take this chance and try out this new interface for yourself!)

*Only files deleted on or after June, 9th 2012 are accumulated in the Recycle bin.

MySyncFolder version control system – Ability to store 20 versions of the same file for quick access

MySyncFolder can now store the most 20 recent versions of the synced files*
In addition to the original backup version mechanisms found in WebStorage Suite (Advance version), same is now provided on MySyncFolder to offer a more convenient and quick access to the desired version allowing for increase in productivity.

For example, if you accidentally saved the older file over the new one or the file became corrupted during editing, you can simply login to ASUS WebStorage and recover the file directly from MySyncFolder. Simply select “View earlier versions” on the right hand side of the menu and download the desired version of any saved/synced file to recover your hard work.

*Only files synced on or after June 9th, 2012 will have multi-versions feature
*Files that have multiple versions will have a “multiple versions” icon displayed to the right of the file.
*ASUS WebStorage software “Sync Agent and Suite (Advanced Version)” provides save/access to the latest version

  1. Can you please write this stuff in language that real people can understand.
Computer geeks may be good at their job but they can’t speak the sort of english that normal people understand.
I have read this article several times and I am very confused as to how all this works. Perhaps a plain english manual would help.

  2. Yea, thanks for the free 5G when I purchased my EeePad. Free forever expired. Worthless.

  3. i dont understand the part where files in “my collection” will be deleted on next sync. do you have to back up all those files before you decide to sync again?? will those files be lost for good?? when i purchased my tf201 tablet, it came with free asus web storage, but these emails are asking me to buy it. google offers free web storage, that i have been using, and has worked very well. but, i am willing to try the asus web storage, as long as im still entitled to what i was given with the purchase of the tablet. thank you, neil

    1. Hi Neil,
The files in “My Collection” are those you’d like to archive. Which will NOT be syncing to every devices with WebStorage app on. They will store right on your cloud storage, and you could access then via browser interface. In this way, it could safe up your local storage hence able you to utilize WebStorage more flexible.

  6. Total technobabble. I still have no idea how this works. How do I use it to save my files on the cloud? You tell me because the info you provide goes over my head. Unimpressed. 😦

  7. Hello ASUS… Please let me know if I can delete all the older versions of my files at one time. Is there any expiry date for the older versions of a file in my cloud storage; so that they will go away automatically after a certain time.

    1. Hi Rajashekhar! The file you have stored at ASUS WebStorage would not be auto-deleted itself. If you would like to delete files, I suggest that you could go to our Web version → go to “MySyncFolder” → tick the all file/folder → click delete. If you want to delete the older file in the version history list, you need to delete it one by one. If you need more assistance, please contact our support team: contact@asuswebstorage.com
